Looks like the Merlion got himself a new throne. This colorful geometric version of Singapore's icon was design by Zheng Meisi from LaSalle College of the Arts. She is the winner of the Space and Kartell's Student Design Competition which assigned students to "create an original graphic motif based on the Singapore national icon, the Merlion, that can be placed on the equally iconic Louis Ghost chair designed by Philippe Starck."
I'm not sure about its combination with the chair but it's a nice new look for the city's icon and I think it has potential to inspire some new souvenirs... hopefully it can replace those ridiculous I♥SG t-shirts.
